电子病历教育课程为2009年版, 或最新发布的美国交通部(US DOT)国家公路交通安全管理局(NHTSA)国家教育标准. 电子病历计划必须由经批准的基础或高级教育机构进行，该机构在北卡罗莱纳州医疗保健委员会的规则中定义. EMR教育项目的首席讲师必须是在EMT获得NC认证的一级EMS讲师, 北卡罗莱纳州医疗保健委员会规定的AEMT或护理人员级别. Student/Course prerequisites: A) 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course; B) High school diploma or high school equivalent; or successful completion of an entrance exam assessing basic reading comprehension skills at a minimum of the tenth grade level.
